UPDATE: AS OF 12/13/2008 WE HAVE A MODIFIED GEOMETRY FOR A GREATER POWER OUTPUT. ON HIGH SETTING, THE MODIFIED LUCIASTOVE CAN NOW BRING ONE LITER OF WATER FROM 12 DEG C TO FULL BOIL IN JUST OVER SIX SECONDS. CLEARLY THIS IS TOO DANGEROUS FOR USE AND THE HIGH POWER VERSION WILL NOT BE AVALABLE FOR COOKING; HOWEVER, ENERGETICALLY AND SCIENTIFICALLY, THE POTENTIAL IS QUITE THRILLING. I wanted to try this great Bunt Pan idea posted by hiramcook. I really liked the better heat transfer that seemed to be possible with it and avoid the added cost and complications associated with using a pot skirt. I have to really thank Hiram for his post for I was able to boil a half litre of water (starting temp of 16 degrees C) in just 41 seconds burning only dried rabbit droppings.
