Well you first need to resist the urge to squeeze it. Doing that is probably the worst thing you can do. It will hurt and probably leave a scar. A boil is NOT a pimple so don’t treat it as such. A boil is caused by an infection of the hair follicles, or small cuts on your skin, by Staphylococcus Epidermidis or STAPH. It is common to have this bacterium on our skin, but we are generally able to fight it off without a problem.
Very often boils affect people with weakened immune systems, like diabetics, people who are nutrient deficient and also lack good personal hygiene.

Be patient. Boils take longer to heal than regular pimples. If you let them naturally run their course it can take anywhere from 4 to 10 days to get to the point where they will drain on their own.
Carbuncles are worse. These are clusters of boils that can take anywhere up to 2 weeks to begin draining. At his point neither the boil or carbuncle is healed yet, but at least the pain has gone down.

My preferred step is this one. Simply because it makes the first 2 steps a lot easier. Apply pure tea tree oil directly to the boil and the surrounding area several times a day. You do this with a cotton swab which you discard after and don’t use for any other application. The application of tea tree oil will:

- Treat the initial STAPH infection
- Speed up the healing process considerably
